seeks for his permanent ballet:
2 apprentices (1-year apprenticeship contract: September 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024)
Profile sought: apprentice dancer with a good technical level (classical and contemporary), good improvisation skills and openness to different styles and choreographic writing. Great learning speed and sharp sense of the group.
HEARING in Avignon Saturday May 20, 2023, 11 a.m.
The Ballet de l'Opera Grand Avignon is made up of twelve full-time dancers. He performs on the stages of the Opera and on tour, for dance performances, and in participation in opera performances, as well as mediation activities. Classically trained, the Ballet is open to different choreographic styles, from neoclassical to contemporary. From the 2021/22 season Emilio Calcagno is the Dance Director.
Audition program for pre-selected candidates on file.
- 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classical class on pointe with the ballet mistress
- 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Workshop with the dance director
- 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Final interview
At the end of the audition, the jury will communicate the candidates selected for the final interview which will take place the same day, at the end of the audition.
The audition will take place at the Ateliers de l'Opéra, 250 Route de Rémouleurs – Courtine (10 minutes on foot from the Avignon TGV station). Apprentices must be part of a training establishment (OPA, CFA or QUALIOPI).
For international candidates:
- Proficiency in French recommended
- Holding of a residence permit authorizing full-time work required on taking up duty valid for the entire duration of the contract (for non-Schengen nationals)

Audition Schedule
- Monday, June 27, 2022, 10 a.m. – GIRLS
- Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 10 a.m. – BOYS
On June 27 GIRLS Audition – First round:
- 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Classical class on pointe with the ballet mistress
- 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Contemporary class with the guest choreographer member of the jury
- 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Laboratory with the dance director
At the end of the day, the jury will communicate the candidates admitted to the second round.
On June 28 Audition GARCONS + FILLES selected:
- 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Classical class with the ballet mistress
- 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contemporary class with the guest choreographer, member of the jury
At the end of the audition, the jury will communicate the candidates selected for the final interview which will take place the same day, at the end of the audition.
