BALLET AUDITION 22/23 SEASON: Nederlands Dans Theater２(ネザーランドダンスシアター)

As of Monday October 4, 2021, it is possible to register for the audition for NDT 2 in the 2022-2023 season.

This audition for NDT 2 remains reserved for dancers between the age of 17 and 22
(born between 17^th January 1999 and 15^th January 2005).

Dancers older than 22 (born before 17^th January 1999) can apply for a private audition for NDT 1 by sending CV/resume and video material (7 minutes maximum) to auditionsNDT1@ndt.nl

Applicants must have finished or are in the graduation year of a professional classical ballet / professional contemporary dance training program and are interested in joining NDT 2 for the season 2022-2023 starting in August 2022.

Applying will be possible as of 4^th October 2021 until 31^st of October 2021 via an online application form, which you can find below at the bottom of this webpage. Please read all info listed on this page carefully first.

PRE-SELECTION:

The artistic staff of NDT shall make a pre-selection based on the information and video that you have sent via the online application form.
We shall notify you by email about the pre-selection results on 1^st December 2021. Only selected applicants will be asked to join the NDT 2 Audition on 15^th & 16^th January in The Hague, The Netherlands.  All selected candidates are asked to be available on both these days.

STEP 1: ONLINE AUDITION/APPLICATION

• You can send in your application starting 4^th October 2021 – 10.00AM (Amsterdam local time) via the online form on our website (please scroll down).
• Application closes on 31^st October 2021 – 10:00PM (Amsterdam local time)

AUDITION VIDEO

The audition video must include:

1. Ballet Technique: 4 short centre exercises consisting of adagio, pirouettes, petit allegro and grand allegro, which total no more than 3 minutes.
2. Repertoire: 2 excerpts of contrasting contemporary repertoire, which total no more than 3 minutes.
3. Improvisation: 1 continuous minute of improvisation that displays contrasting phrasing, dynamics and use of space.
4. NDT Repertoire (Bedroom Folk): Please fill form below first to receive instruction video. Learn the repertoire from the video. Add this solo twice in your audition video, 1 version without music at a slightly slower tempo and 1 version with music.

Please keep the following in mind:

• Maximum duration of video material: 9 minutes (approx. 3 mins. of ballet technique centre exercises,
  3 mins. of repertoire of choice, 1 min. improvisation and 1 min. Bedroom Folk solo without music, 1 min. Bedroom Folk solo with music).
• Music (original sound) must be audible throughout the film, movement and music should be combined.
• You must be clearly and completely visible, without any other dancers in the video.
• Use YouTube or Vimeo to upload your video. Do NOT password protect the video.
• Add the link of your video to the assigned box in the audition form, only add one link
• The video must be available at least until 1^st March 2022.

HEADSHOT

• A clear headshot: a recent and recognizable picture of your face in close-up
• Maximum size of photo should be 2 x 3 inch or 5×7 cm.
• High resolution quality

CONFIRMATION

After submitting the audition form, you will receive an automatic reply with a confirmation of receipt and a copy of the form. (check your SPAM-box)
If you haven’t received the confirmation within 2 working days, please contact us via: auditions@ndt.nl.

Please note: confirmation of receipt does not automatically mean that you will be invited for the annual audition.

STEP 2: SELECTION

You will be notified by email about the results of the pre-selection on 1^st December 2021 .

STEP 3: AUDITION DAYS INFORMATION

Selected candidates will be provided with more detailed information such as route description to our theater as well as information about hotels or other accommodation on 1^st December 2021.
